Biography
Alan picked up his first book of astrology at age 24, and was hooked. After a few years of study on his own,
reading everything he could find, he enrolled in the correspondence courses of the esteemed British Faculty of
Astrological Studies (FAS), a rigorous 3-year program which culminated in his living in England for a school year
and writing 18 hours worth of final exams.
Returning to Canada, he settled in Montreal where he soon met a group of aspiring astrologers. Within months,
he was teaching introductory and intermediate astrology to dozens of students. Shortly thereafter he also
became the North American tutor for the FAS and was responsible for hundreds of students in Canada, USA and
Mexico.
After a dozen years of practice as a western astrologer, Alan discovered Jyotish, the Vedic astrology of India.
Following a consultation and a weekend workshop with Hart de Fouw, he embarked upon a formal program
with DeFouw through the Ayurvedic Institute in New Mexico, and the Vedic Vidya Institute in California. Along
the way, he also studied Hasta Samudrika (palmistry) and Ayurveda (health science).
In parallel with his western studies, he also acquired certification from the American College of Vedic
Astrologers (ACVA), a process that demanded the accumulation of 1200 credit hours of instruction and study of
Jyotish. His Level II Certification as a practitioner and a tutor is the highest level currently available in North
America, and allows students to earn ACVA-credited hours under his tutelage.
After 25 years of practice in Montreal, Alan now lives in Toronto, where he serves an international clientele via
face-to-face and telephone consultations.
