It’s the day to pursue ambitions, organize events, seek favor from authorities, extend reasonable loans, advance education, sign or register documents, and enter business partnerships related to administration or government. Planning a coup? Make it a Sunday, when the PM is sleeping in.

Monday, for the Moon, supports nurturing. It’s a good day to socialize with women and youngsters, use intuition, pursue romance, make public speeches, travel by water, buy or sell food, household articles and ornaments, or start a business related to hotels or restaurants. Love your Mom? Buy her a new dishwasher on Monday.

Tuesday (mardi), deferring to Mars, often entails conflict and cruelty. So it’s the day to fix targets, take action, give orders, administer discipline, file lawsuits, declare war, purchase land, or start a business related to machinery, engineering, or heavy transport. Hate your siblings? On a Tuesday, file a lawsuit alleging mental cruelty.

Wednesday (mercredi), honoring Mercury, invokes communications and commerce. It’s the day to write letters, sign documents, memorize things, gather new ideas, engage in commerce, study, make speeches, purchase lottery tickets, stocks or bonds, or start a media-related business. Writing a bestseller? Whip it off on a Wednesday.

Thursday (jeudi), favoring Jupiter, is about luck and creativity. It’s the day to ask for favors, pursue legal matters, religion, philosophy, invest in your future, create a child, travel, enter contracts including marriage, or start a business related to travel, education or publishing. Starting a new religion? Publish your manifesto on a Thursday.

Friday (vendredi), in honor of Venus, favors arts and luxuries. It’s the day to entertain, pursue romance, use charm to further your ambitions, be artistic and creative, purchase jewelry and ornaments, decorate, buy a vehicle, or start a business in fashion, art, cosmetics, or entertainment. Declaring your love? On a Friday, buy your sweetie a jewel-encrusted luxury vehicle.

Saturday, on behalf of Saturn, brings aging, labor and the unpleasant realities of life. It’s the day to assume responsibilities, take your time, expect delays, make long-range plans, or start a business related to mines and metals, insurance, agriculture, antiques, funeral homes. Digging for gold? Break ground on a Saturday.

Seriously, how can you use such information in a practical way? A general rule is to take care of the “dirty work” on days of the malefic planets – Sunday, Tuesday and Saturday. But if you want to negotiate anything or ask for favors, choose a “communication” day of the benefic planets – Wednesday or Thursday. Or if you want to promote love or affection, choose a “relational” day of the benefic planets – Monday or Friday.

This especially applies to weddings. Marriage is about love and affection, and the traditional choice of Saturday is practically the worst day of the week, because Saturn is cold and distant, exactly the opposite of marriage’s objectives – closeness and warmth. So if you want marriage to last, try to schedule the wedding for a Friday, the day of Venus ruling affection, love and sexuality. And don’t forget the diamond-studded sports car.

Astrology & Compatibility

Nature abhors a vacuum, and nowhere does this seem more evident than in personal relationships. Our desire for companionship is typically high on the agenda. Most people try to cultivate and enjoy some form of relationship, whether within the family, among close friends, or between significant others.

In the case of the latter, an astrologer inevitably becomes both confidant and advisor. 80% of our clients seek perspective or prognosis regarding relationships. Little wonder that we frequently address this complex subject to answer many heart-felt questions:

Who is right for my needs? What can I do to develop better relationships? Where do I turn to find a suitable partner? When will my love life improve? Why do my relationships seem such a challenge?

We can use astrology to help assess partners’ compatibility by comparing four key factors from their birth charts. Each person’s Ascendant dictates its physical reality, eg, work/play schedules, sleep patterns, and dietary preferences. The Moon reflects our emotional temperament, empathy and communication. The Sun represents ethics, values and future ambitions. Venus signifies affection, sensuality and sexuality.

The interplay of these four factors usually indicates a bias in any couple – for a solid relationship, a platonic relationship, a business partnership, a passionate affair – or some other permutation. It can be a juggling act. For one couple, the sex may be great, but what if one person’s a spiritual vegetarian and the other’s a carnivorous workaholic? For another couple, their worldly ambitions may be similar, but if emotional empathy is low, long- term fidelity could be at risk.

From a static point of view, each birth chart paints a broad portrait of lifetime relationship themes. For some, this may suggest long-lasting love, for another, serial monogamy, for yet another, a constant struggle. From a dynamic point of view, each chart also identifies opportune times for meeting someone, and smooth or rocky periods in life that foretell ease or challenge in relationships. It’s like a weather forecast for the heart – today it’s raining, but the sun will come out on the weekend.

The good news is that, with the right perspective and a little guidance, we can improve our own expectations, attitudes and behaviors regarding relationships. It’s worth the effort, because when we find balance in ourselves, we find balance in our relationships with others.

Astrology & Conception

Fifty years ago, a Czech psychiatrist named Dr. Eugen Jonas read in an ancient manuscript: “A woman is fertile according to the Moon.” Intrigued, he researched hospital records and found that 70-85% of pregnancies occurred when the lunar phase was the same as it was at the moment of the mother’s birth. For example, if Jane was born on a new moon, she was likely to conceive on a new moon. However, if her friend Wendy was born on a full moon, she’d more likely conceive on a full moon.

According to Jonas, the lunar phase was a more reliable predictor of conception than any other measure of fertility, ie, temperature, ovulation, mucus, etc. Even the ovulation cycle could account for only 15-30% of pregnancies, thus making the rhythm method unreliable for family planning.

Since the Sun-Moon phase occurs on a regular basis, this provides women at least one day a month when the current lunar phase is the same as it was at their own birth. However, when the prospective mother’s moon phase and ovulation cycle overlap, there’s a period of extremely high fertility. Jonas believed that many conceptions occurred when these two cycles synchronized.

Jonas went on to prove that the astrological sign occupied by the Moon at conception determines the child’s sex. If the Moon is in a fire sign (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) or air sign (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius), it’ll be a boy. If in earth (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) or water (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) it’s a girl. He further claimed that twins consisting of one boy and one girl are conceived when the Moon is changing signs.

Unfortunately, it’s not a good idea to use this cycle to ensure birth control. That’s because nobody can predict exactly how long it takes sperm to swim up the birth canal to inseminate the egg or “lie in waiting” in the tubal area for the egg to be in the right mood. Medicine says average sperm lives for 48-60 hours, but some doctors report cases where insemination took 72 hours.

On the flip side, however, if a woman is trying to conceive, this method identifies a very clear window of opportunity, especially when her natal moon cycle recurs at the same time as her ovulation cycle. The virtue of this astrological method is that the woman doesn’t have to undergo any medical procedure, take any pills, or follow any diets. The only demand is to have sex at a certain time of day, something that most couples don’t consider too much of a hardship.

Astrology & Career

“To find joy in work is to discover the fountain of youth.” – Pearl S. Buck

Since happiness in career is a big factor in overall life satisfaction, it’s important that we first make the right choices about what education we need. Problem is, in our youth and sometimes later during a “mid-life crisis”, we often face a confusing array of options, and little but our own intuitions to guide us through one of life’s biggest decisions.

One of the most gratifying aspects of being an astrologer/palmist is the opportunity to help people get a clear sense of their potential. Signs on the hand often suggest a person’s academic abilities, as well as what sort of professional sector – health care, marketing, science, public service, the trades, etc – is most likely. Personality factors, eg, self-confidence, sociability and adaptability, also reveal whether a person needs a public role or prefers to work behind the scenes, and whether they’re more likely to be an entrepreneur or an employee.

The astrological birth chart itself reveals far more about career potential. Planetary “signatures” indicate whether a person will make a likely performing artist, banker, mechanic, architect, teacher, doctor, psychologist, scientist, writer, engineer, athlete or anthropologist. The chart can also indicate periods of time during which experience is accumulated and success is embraced.

That’s where astrology can help enormously – by providing any client, young or old, with an independent overview of strengths, weaknesses, skills and potentiality that can help identify the best options – no matter whether one is just starting to get an education for a career, shifting gears in mid-life, or charting an entirely new course.

Astrology & the Days of the Week Most people never think about it, but every day of the week is associated with one of named the days in their honor.
