{"id":1598,"date":"2013-05-16T13:07:29","date_gmt":"2013-05-16T18:07:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.navamsa.com\/?p=1598"},"modified":"2013-05-16T13:12:26","modified_gmt":"2013-05-16T18:12:26","slug":"the-brothers-tsarnaev-and-their-malefics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.navamsa.com\/?p=1598","title":{"rendered":"The Tsarnaev Brothers and their malefics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.navamsa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Brothers_Tsarnaev1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1600\" title=\"Brothers_Tsarnaev\" src=\"http:\/\/www.navamsa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Brothers_Tsarnaev1-300x180.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">The Tsarnaev <strong>Brothers<\/strong><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Is there anything more problematic for an astrologer than a client or famous person without a birth time?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Tsarnaev brothers, perpetrators of the April 15th Boston Marathon bombings that killed three and injured 264 others, provide an ideal opportunity to analyze charts from the viewpoint of <em>Chandralagna<\/em>, a simple concept from Vedic astrology.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>Chandralagna<\/em> is a composite Sanskrit term \u00e2\u0080\u0093 <em>Chandra<\/em> meaning Moon, and <em>Lagna<\/em> meaning tie-down point (between heaven and earth), aka the ascendant. So <em>Chandralagna<\/em> means \u00e2\u0080\u009cviewing the Moon as the ascendant.\u00e2\u0080\u009d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">If we lack a birth time to calculate the ascendant, this is the next best thing. The Moon is the chart\u00e2\u0080\u0099s fastest-moving celestial body, therefore its next most potent individuating factor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">AstroDataBank and AstroTheme provided birth data for the two brothers: Tamerlan, 21 October 1986, time unknown, Grozny, Chechnya; Dzhokar, 22 July 1993, time unknown, Grozny, Chechnya.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Without a birth time, many western astrologers typically calculate a chart for noon. This usefully captures the mean positions of the planets that day, albeit roughly for the Moon, which moves 12+ degrees in a day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Other western astrologers calculate the chart for sunrise, or rotate the noon chart to place the Sun at the ascendant, either way creating a symbolic \u00e2\u0080\u009csunrise\u00e2\u0080\u009d chart.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">However, Vedic astrology considers the faster-moving Moon to be a stronger individuating factor than the Sun. Therefore, we rotate the noon chart to place the Moon in the first house, thus giving us a <em>Chandralagna<\/em> chart.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Before we examine these two brothers, what do we expect to find in the charts of anarchists, assassins, bombers, <em>jihadi<\/em>, murderers?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Round up the usual suspects \u00e2\u0080\u0093 the malefics \u00e2\u0080\u0093 in the form of Mars for violence, Saturn for death and anti-social behaviour, Rahu for aberrant behaviour, and the Sun for cruelty. (Note: Uranus, Neptune and Pluto aren\u00e2\u0080\u0099t used in Vedic astrology, so traditional sign rulership applies.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.navamsa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Tamerlan-chandralagna-2x.jpg\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1601\" title=\"Tamerlan chandralagna - 2x\" src=\"http:\/\/www.navamsa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Tamerlan-chandralagna-2x.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"682\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.navamsa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Tamerlan-chandralagna-2x.jpg 682w, http:\/\/www.navamsa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Tamerlan-chandralagna-2x-300x164.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 682px) 100vw, 682px\" \/><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In Tamerlan\u00e2\u0080\u0099s chart, the Moon is 14 degrees Taurus. (Note: sidereal zodiac, as per Vedic astrology). Although a noon position, no matter what the actual birth time, the Moon remains in Taurus, because in 12 hours it can only move six degrees in either direction. So <em>Chandralagna<\/em> is definitely Taurus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Now study the disposition of planets relative to the Moon. Saturn is directly opposite, almost to the degree. (Note: in Vedic astrology, two planets need only be in opposite signs, regardless of degree or orb, to mutually aspect each other.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Saturn in Scorpio versus Mars in Capricorn are in Parivartana Yoga (mutual reception). This means we hold the option to make these planets exchange signs in our mind\u00e2\u0080\u0099s eye, thus placing Mars opposite the Moon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Now both prime malefics \u00e2\u0080\u0093 Saturn and Mars \u00e2\u0080\u0093 influence the Moon, fulfilling our astrological expectations for a perpetrator of violence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Treating Taurus as <em>Chandralagna<\/em>, ascendant ruler Venus goes to Libra in the sixth house. Venus is doubly strong\u00c2\u00a0\u00e2\u0080\u0093 retrograde and in its own sign. Strong planets in the sixth house are associated with martial arts (Tamerlan was a boxer), police and military activities (he tried to join resistance fighters in Chechnya), and combative behavior.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.navamsa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Dzhokar-chandralagna-2x.jpg\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1602\" title=\"Dzhokar chandralagna - 2x\" src=\"http:\/\/www.navamsa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Dzhokar-chandralagna-2x.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"682\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.navamsa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Dzhokar-chandralagna-2x.jpg 682w, http:\/\/www.navamsa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/Dzhokar-chandralagna-2x-300x164.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 682px) 100vw, 682px\" \/><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In Dzhokar\u00e2\u0080\u0099s chart, his noon-time Moon is 14 degrees Leo. Again, no matter what the birth time, the Moon remains in sign, so <em>Chandralagna<\/em> is definitely Leo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The influence of Mars and Saturn is obvious. Mars is in Leo. (No matter the orb, two planets in the same sign influence each other like two people in the same room.) Similarly, Saturn opposes the Moon in mutual aspect.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Here, we have in addition the nodes in the angles. Rahu acts likes Saturn, Ketu like Mars. Rahu is exalted in Scorpio, Ketu debilitated in Taurus, thus contributing to their virulence and instability.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Treating Leo as <em>Chandralagna<\/em>, ascendant lord Sun goes to Cancer in the 12th house, implying sacrifice, self-undoing, suicide and incarceration.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">These charts show that adopting the <em>Chandralagna<\/em> perspective immediately sheds light on the character and destiny of these two brothers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">When analyzing a chart whose birth time is known, Vedic astrologers naturally devote most of their attention to planets in houses defined vis-a-vis the true ascendant.
